Tie & Lie December Meeting

Thu Walter Babbrsday, December 6  Meeting is at Monte Vista Baptist Church – 1735 Old Niles Ferry Road in Maryville, Tennessee (Map)
Program: Are you interested in learning how to be a better flyfisher?  Interested in having some fun?  Then plan on joining us at the next Little River Chapter TU meeting to learn from our local legends.  Walter Babb, Jack Gregory, and Tim Doyle will be tying flies and sharing stories. This is a great chance to learn from the best.

Walter Babb has spent his whole life fishing the Tellico area as well as the Smokies.  He started tying flies commercially at a young age and is one of the most knowledgeable people in regards to the history and origins of various fly patterns.  Walter also specializes in making fine bamboo fly rods.

Jack Gregory has chased just about every freshwater and saltwater species of fish worth pursuing with a fly rod.  He has probably spent more time fishing the Smokies than anyone else in history and has accumulated a vast knowledge about the fish that swim in those waters.  Jack loves catching Brookies as well as pursuing wary Brown Trout.

Tim Doyle is a professional fishing guide and specializes not only in fishing the National Park waters but also the local tailwaters as well.  Tim is never in short supply of stories, and he’ll be sure to keep you entertained as he demonstrates how to tie some of his unique fly patterns.

There will be a short business meeting to ratify the 2013 LRCTU Officers and Board of Directors, followed by Jack, Walter, and Tim providing fly tying demonstrations and swapping stories.
