The June meeting is scheduled for the 22nd at Calhoun’s in Maryville. Social hour starts at 6:00pm and the meeting at 7:00. Yesterday, June 9 was a day spent cleaning up Nolan Creek for the upcoming trout camp. Volunteers for our local TU chapters came together and did a lot of good work and had an enjoyable day. The creek is now very fishable and it is surprising the number of large trout for such a small stream. The campers should have a good time.

Speaking of trout camp, I would like to thank Steve Young and all the volunteers who are helping with the camp for their efforts this year. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of man-hours to put on such a great program. School is out. There are a lot children and grandchildren who need to go fishing. The Smoky Mountain Park is beautiful and the streams are perfect. Get out there with your kids!

The July 27 meeting will be at River John’s Outfitter Island. For those who have never been there, a map is available at riverjohns.com. Come early, bring a rod and chase some smallmouth bass. Remember to bring your comfy picnic chair to lounge in and a covered dish to share with others.
