Blessed

As I have been looking aTrout2014-1-1t my copy of Trout Unlimited’s guide to Americas 100 Best Trout Streams.  I got to thinking how good we have it here in East Tennessee.  Out of the 14 streams listed in the southeast 10 of them are within  a two hour drive from my house in Knoxville.  Tennessee has six streams listed in the book which make it the second most in a state east of the Mississippi River.  And just think of all the places we fish that did not make the list.  I am going to make it a goal to fish the 10 streams this year. The Toccoa is a River I have not had  the chance to fish before and I will be looking forward to it.  Chattooga River is more then two hours away but is another River that I have not had a chance to fish.  I think I will be adding it to my list for this year too.  All I can say is that we are blessed to live here in East Tennessee.  Hope to see you on the River.

Good fishing.

Joe

“Fly Fishing for Trout”

Fly Fishing for Trout with Gary Borger was one of the first Fly fishing videos that I watched when I first started out fly fishing some 20-plus years ago.  This a older video that I think can still help out someone new to fly fishing today.  It help me out a lot when I was just starting and was trying to leaning how to approach a trout stream, what fishing method to use and the type of flies I needed.

You can watch the eGary Borgerach of the videos in the Fly Fishing for Trout series by clicking the links below:

November / December Meeting

President’s Corner
Mike Bryant (mjbryant1954@hotmail.com)
(Newsletter)

Lately I have been reminded on how we can and do impact the lives of others.  It’s been fascinating to watch my three year old granddaughter gain awareness of the world around her. As we’ve turned over rock s looking for bugs in the yard, walked in the woods or chased ducks around the pond , she is becoming aware of nature. I hope that I can instill the love of nature and the outdoors in her that my grandfather gave to me. We all have the opportunity to influence lives on a very personal level. I would hope each and everyone of us makes the investment to share our love of nature with at least one other person, especially our youth.  It’s our future. As we close out 2013, I am excited about our expanded plans for 2014. We will be holding a major fundraiser, supporting youth education via the TroutCamp, building on our membership education programs and expanding our Chapter trips.

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving. Be safe and I will see you at the
December meeting.
