Tennesse Fishing License

Yep it is time.

March 1 and Delight Saving Time mean only one thing it is time to renew your fishing license.  In the past I would suggest going by your local Fly Shop and pick up a new licence. But TWRA now sends you a plastic card instead of the paper print out.  So you might like to save time and just order it online.  Tennessee R.E.A.L. System Online Licensing (link) is the way to go.  Just input last year’s licence number,  your name and birth date and you are in.  You them can print off your temporary licence or just save it to your phone which is a good thing to do anyway.

Good fishing

February Meeting

President’s Corner

It’s February and Spring is just around the corner. I have seen Forsythia blooming and I have heard that spring mayflies have been  seen. I have not been fishing yet.  Every time the fishing fever strikes the weather  turns ugly but that is the nature of this time of year. Patience! Spring is just around the  corner!

Now is the time to be filling the fly box and  making sure the fishing equipment is ready to go. To help with that, there will be a tech class at 5:30 before the next meeting February 23 to discuss rod and reel maintenance. It’s easy to throw the rod and reel in the rack or leave it in the tube after an outing but now is the time to check them out and clean them up.

Steve Young and I attended the initial meeting of the new Maryville Healing Waters  program. For our members who are veterans or members who just want to volunteer to help our military veterans, this is a great program. They are folks who just want to be on the water so I hope we will help them. this time of year.  Patience! Spring is just around the corner!

MSU Library – Angling Oral History Project

Montana State University Angling Oral History Project  collects, preserves, and disseminates the histories, opinions, and stories of politicians, artists, guides, authors, and anglers from all walks of life. Interviews are freely available and searchable to anyone online through our MSU created database. (Link)  Jim Thull not only interviews our locals  Ray Ball, Matt Kulp, Walter Babb and Steve Moore  he also interviews the who’s who of the Fly fishing industry.  Two of my favorites John Gierach and Dave Hughes. He also interviews Frank Amato,  Joan Wulff and many more.
