{"id":2534,"date":"2021-03-17T01:55:48","date_gmt":"2021-03-17T01:55:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lrctu.org\/?p=2534"},"modified":"2021-03-17T01:55:51","modified_gmt":"2021-03-17T01:55:51","slug":"march-meeting-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/lrctu.org\/?p=2534","title":{"rendered":"March Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>STREAMS OF THOUGHT\u2014NOTES FROM THE PRESIDENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Zoom Meeting  : March 30<sup>th <\/sup>7pm<\/strong>\u2014<strong>Spey-Rod Fishing by Tim Flagler<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/03bcaa8465bd\/lrctu-march-2021-newsletter?e=1b8539c3a3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Newsletter<\/a><br><br><strong>BIG CREEK DRIVES ME BATTY, HAS IT BEEN COLD?, TECHNICAL FOUL UP &amp; PATIENCE<\/strong><br><br>If you follow sports at all you have heard or seen the phenomenon that some teams just have it over others no matter their relative standings or skill levels. Well, that is me and Big Creek at the north end of the Park.\u00a0 Some of the most beautiful and fishy-looking water I have seen\u2014but Big Creek wins out most every time despite my best efforts.\u00a0 I have done OK on occasion but my Batting Average and RBI totals aren\u2019t the greatest.\u00a0 But having said that, will I be going back?\u00a0 You betch\u2019um Red Ryder!!\u2014laughing fish or not.\u00a0 Also, a day on the stream doesn\u2019t have to be about catching fish, but rather the beauty of nature around you and the wildlife you see.\u00a0 My Big Creek day was highlighted by this little fellow I found on a stream-side rock sitting in the sun.\u00a0 I thought it was dead but a little nudge and it came to life.\u00a0 I think he\/she was too cold to fly which didn\u2019t portend well for the coming evening, but feisty enough to let me know to keep my distance!<br><br>Some folks have told me that this winter hasn\u2019t seemed too different than previous.\u00a0 But my heating bill and \u2018fish-o-meter\u2019 say different.\u00a0 Our kwhs for January and February are the highest of our 9-year run here.\u00a0 My lack of fishing time because of low water temps also fuels my prejudice!\u00a0 But the immediate forecast looks more \u2018spring-like\u2019.\u00a0 Time for me to hit the water\u2014hope you can too.<br><br>Big thanks to Charity and Ian and all the Little River members for having the patience to preserver through my technical goof-up.\u00a0 For the first night I somehow made 2 Zoom meeting notices, kept one for me and sent the other to everyone else.\u00a0 Well patience paid off as we had a great turnout on the next Tuesday (over 30 participants) and were treated to a very informative talk on winter fishing by Charity and Ian.\u00a0 Although spring appears to be coming along there is bound to be a cold snap or two before spring comes to stay and those coaching tips will be useful.<br><br>Best wishes and tight lines! &#8212; Steve Young<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STREAMS OF THOUGHT\u2014NOTES FROM THE PRESIDENT Zoom Meeting : March 30th 7pm\u2014Spey-Rod Fishing by Tim Flagler.
